Our by-laws define a very specific process for electing club officers and appointing Executive Committee members.
So that everyone has an equal opportunity to participate it’s important to understand how that process works. It’s not as complicated as it seems so if you can bear with me for three paragraphs I’ll lay it all out.

Our club has an Executive Committee comprised of seven members. Four of the positions are the officers (President, Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer) that are elected by the club membership plus three additional positions. One is the immediate past president and the other two are appointed by the president.

The candidates for officer positions are selected by a Nominating Committee consisting of two non-Executive Committee members, the current President and the Immediate Past President. Mauricio Pennini, Dave Risley, Tom Paligraf and Eric Weinstein are the Nominating Committee members. The committee will present its slate of officer nominees at the November 2nd meeting at BMW Motorcycles of Ft. Lauderdale. The committee only presents ONE candidate for each elected position.

In addition to the slate presented by the Nominating Committee, nominations from the floor will be heard. In order to be accepted, a nomination from the floor must be seconded and approved by 1/3 of the members in attendance on November 2nd. All of the nominations accepted from the floor PLUS the slate selected by the Nominating Committee will comprise the “ballot” for the Dec. 7th elections.

SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN TO YOU?
It means that this is the time to bring your ideas, opinions, knowledge and energy to the table.
It means you can have a greater say in where the club is going and how it gets there. Please, Please, Please seriously consider submitting your name for an elected officer position or an appointed committee member. We need fresh ideas and the energy to get things done. We need to continue to build our enthusiasm at the Executive Committee level. WE need YOU. Even if you are happy with the way things are, you can help keep them going forward.
