Lake Placid New York. Just hearing the name conjures cool  images of ski jumps, giant slaloms, gorgeous  snow bunnies  and the “Miracle on Ice” US Hockey victory  in the 1980 Olympics. It’s a  beautiful, mountainous, forest town. Unfortunately, we won’t be going there.
 
BUT…
 
We will be riding to Jaxon’s Restaurant in scenic Lake Placid Florida. Lake Placid has been called “One of Florida’s prettiest small towns” by VisitFlorida, an organization that is paid to say nice things about small towns in Florida.  http://www.visitflorida.com/en-us/cities/lake-placid.html. It’s actually a pretty cool place known for the murals painted on the buildings downtown 
 
 
Our road captain and guide, Sir Lawrence of Karnick, having successfully navigated his way home from the neighborhood Publix has planned a route that even Emilia Earnhardt could follow. It’s got some great scenery, a few twists and turns and keeps us out of any sweltering stop and go traffic.  A .GPX file and map can be found here:

We will meet on  Sunday August 26th at the ) at 9:30 with kickstands up at 10:00.  The ride shows that it is just under two hours so make sure your gas tank is full, your personal tank is  empty  ahead of kickstands up.  There will be a pre-ride briefing approximately ten minutes before departure.
 
If you want to meet up and ride from the South, a group will meet at Café 27 at 9:00 with KSU at 9:30.
